This honor is to be given out to the young player aged 22 or less, voting runs from the 29th to the 9th, finalists to be known Nov. 11. This replaces the Rookie of the Year, I feel an error, in that it may be just that a first year pro or just a young player from the states, overseas, academy product, etc. The cut off birthdate being Dec. 31, 1997, I still wear clothes older than that.

In this Covid affected season the two from the NY market will meet up but 2x in the regular season, tomorrow at Yankee Stadium. This is the last Derby and one of the last games of the year, both are in the playoffs so it is about Pride, Points & Positioning. Red Bull have taken the season series 3 of the 5 years, only dropping one, 2017. On the strength of the Kyle Duncan GWG at 59' NYRB won the Aug. 20 matchup. There are 5 in red that have scored on NYCFC Royer with a trio, Kaku & Valot also have 1 each as does Duncan.

The leading goal getter in league lore who keeps building on his lead with each successive goal,165 in the regular season and counting, was just selected as Player of the Week. He is now tied for 5th most selections as such with this his 9th pick. His brace was all the 'Quakes needed in the 2-0 win over RSL at home on Wed. This year alone he has 6 tallies for the 7th place team in the West with 27 points.

His first strike was at 16' as he sent an Espinoza rebound home off his right foot

Diego Valeri of the Timbers was fined for simulation/embellishment at 54' against the Sounders, Oct. 22.

Houston Dynamo defender Jose Bizama also fined for simulation/embellishment from the 85' facing LAFC Oct 28. The action caused Latif Blessing to receive a Yellow, it will be fully stricken.

Inter Miami FC has again gone against the mass confrontation policy, this time at 57' of their game on Oct. 28, this is their 2nd such offense. The team and coach are fined.

I may just be leaning to the fastest one by a player who I refereed his youth games at the Shep Messing Soccer World. A Long Islander who played in Europe. Mike Grella. But hey that is just me, there have been a lot of goals scored I guess, right? A few Olympicos, 2 involving RBNY come to mind, the first MLS goal, by Eric Wynalda, the first few of NYRB by Giovanni Saverese. It hurts me a bit to mention Zlatan and he had a few in his short time here.
