The Prodigal Son Returns, Diosa Mio

By Sean McCaffery, February 21, 2019

David Diosa is back in the fold with the Green-and-White. Earlier this week, the NY Cosmos made it known that they had reacquired their 5 year mainstay who started with their academy in 2010,  netting their first goal to then join the first team in the first year of the reboot era, 2013.  David stated, "I'm really happy to return home and play for the club. I'm excited to play again for the most historic team in the U.S." He had played a myriad of positions for the team during his tenure, getting his first game in 2013 facing Atlanta as a sub in a 1-0 win. He has a total of 40 games and 4 goals for NY. His last team was the Real Monarchs of the USL, we spoke brielfly with HC of the first team RSL, Mike Petke at the draft and he spoke well of David. Sr. VP Joe Barone stated, "At the Cosmos, we always talk about how it's a family, and we're pleased to welcome home David for this season. He is a player that has won championships with us."  Former teammate and now head coach, Carlos Mendes of Mineola and an inductee this weekend in the LI Soccer Player Hall of Fame said, "David is another Cosmos Academy product and someone who has played with the first team before. He understands what this club is all about."
