Post BOD Meet with USSF

By Sean McCaffery, May 21, 2021

Given it was emailed out just 16' before it was to start, then began almost 10 minutes late, this call was also less than 10 minutes in duration. Having no idea of anything, I had no questions.

One question that was not answered was the status of the lawsuit with the NASL, clearly asked, clearly not replied to, and the Federation was let off the hook?

Here is what was asked and the replies from Wes Wilson & Cindy Parlow Cone.

Q: A loss of +- $40 million was expected, a small profit resulted on the year, how?

A: Better return of investments, fewer costs, no Olympics in the fiscal year. The numbers used were from Aug. 2020, by the end of '20 it changed, as it did again since Feb. 2021. More money from the Senior teams with better games.

Q:How much money went to legal fees, status of NASL suit and Equal Pay?

A: 9 Million in legal fees, as expected. Again, ZERO on NASL. WNT Equal Pay the players have the right to appeal a ruling, they hope to settle out of court.

Q: Governance Council?

A: They meet tomorrow, will have other meetings over the next few months, a big one onĀ  Oct. 23. They must adopt bylaws etc. The Task Force will be set and have a solution by the end of the year to move forward. All must be set by Dec. 31 or not in compliance, no set penalty if not.

Q:Olympics?

A: The WNT are preparing as if the games are being played.

Q: World Cup every 2 years?

A: FIFA & a few member nations suggested it, feasibility study being done by FIFIA, awaiting the results.

Q: Will the new TV deal be again done with MLS?

A: Unknown as yet.
