NEW YORK CITY FC HEAD COACH PASCAL JANSEN
Thoughts on Deportivo Toluca FC and what to expect… “We know we’re up against a very strong opponent, as were the two previous ones. So, we respect them fully. But tomorrow is a final—we have to win in order to have a chance to go through to the quarterfinals. That goes for Toluca as well. It promises to be a very interesting game, and I hope a very spectacular one as well. We’ve learned from the previous two games, and going head-to-head with one of the strongest teams in the league is always challenging.”
On returning to Yankee Stadium... “Very, very happy. We were fortunate to have the opportunity to play at Sports Illustrated Stadium, and we’re very thankful for that. But us playing in either Citi Field or Yankee Stadium is way better, because then we have our home base, our home ground, and our home crowd very close to us. Hopefully, they can make the difference for us tomorrow in this very important game.”
NEW YORK CITY FC FORWARD AGUSTÍN OJEDA
On the four Argentines playing together against León and the joy in playing with each other… “Yes, at one point there were four attackers—that was in the second half, toward the end. It was a nice experience because I don’t think we had played a game where we were all on the field at the same time. The communication feels different, maybe because we know each other a bit more among the Argentinians—because of how we communicate, and because I’ve played with some of them before, like Maxi [Moralez] and Juli [Fernandez], who I already knew. Now I’m getting to know Nico [Fernandez Mercau] a bit, but yeah, it was a great experience. I also feel like any player who’s on the field, it’s always good to enjoy it.”
