By Sean McCaffery, August 2, 2018

An original franchise meets a newer one for the first time at RBA this weekend as LAFC makes the trip. Though far apart in history and distance, only 5 points seperate the 2 in a nationally televeised game kicking offf at 6p.m. ET on FS1, Fox Sports GO & NYRB Radio in English and Spanish on TuneIn. The Radio goes live at 5p.m. with the Honda Countdown to Kickoff featuring Matt Harmon & Steve Jolly as Ernesto Motta takes over the game in Spanish for the play by play @ 6.

Thus far NYRB has done well facing Western Conference opposition, now taking on the 2nd best team out of it, sitting at 7-1-0 and 20-7 in goals along with being 15-3 at RBA, as LAFC is tettering at .500 with their 5-5-1 recors and a goal differential of -2 getting 25 allowing 27. The designated player Kaku held down the midfield well following his 2nd half insertion to the lineup although they dropped the game to the Crew, the 2nd loss in last 11 at home. Kaku has the league lead in assists with 14 and has his 2nd 4 games in a row with an assist, tied for 2nd longest of the year, his 14 have him tied for 3rd in team history.

Saturday was the 12th one goal game for NYRB and they are 6-6-0 in them, all 6  losses coming by one goal.

Bradley Wright-Phillips who just went over the 100 goal mark and added to it again on Saturday will be honored following the game. Honoring him via highlights of his best goals, videos from past teammates, coaches and more. The evening will be topped off with a special message from the club and all in attendance will get a commerative poster marking his record upon exit.
