NYCFC, Atlanta United Play To 2:2 Draw

Hosts New York City FC (NYCFC) played to a 2:2 draw with Atlanta United during an MLS Regular Season encounter on Sunday afternoon at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx.

The result extends NYCFC’s (8-4-5, 29 Pts) MLS home unbeaten streak to eight games, while Atlanta (5-7-5, 20 Pts) remains winless in its last seven road encounters.

Argentinean midfielder Valentin Castellano had both NYCFC goals with the first one coming in the 37th minute-mark off a pass from Brazilian forward Talles Magno to give the home side a 1:0 advantage.

Argentinean midfielder Marcelino Moreno had a chance to tie the game just before halftime, however his on target shot was saved by U.S. international goalkeeper Sean Johnson.

In the second stanza, Atlanta got the equalizer in the 57th minute when Venezuelan international striker Josef Martínez headed a cross from Argentinean forward Thiago Almada that just got past Johnson.

The visitor’s celebration was short as just a minute later, Castellano notched his second of the game with another assist from teammate Magno for the 2:1 NYCFC advantage.

However, four minutes remaining, Atlanta once again equalized when U.S. international forward Dom Dyer, who checked into the game in the 84th minute, scored off an assist from Mexican forward Ronaldo Cisneros.
