By Sean McCaffery, April 23, 2019

Once his Visa is worked out, Liam Manning is set to take his new position, he arrives with a great pedigree of having been involved with the same in England, West Ham United FC & Ipswich Town FC.  Liam stated "I'm delighted to join New York CIty FC which is a club that has made huge strides since it bagan just a few short years ago. It has become one of the premier teams and Academies in the United States."  Of late with the U-23 for EPL team West Ham he lead the Irons to the PL Cup title and was at the top of the development for players throughout the youth levels to the first team, most noteably 3 Lions player Declan Rice. During his tenure with West Ham, he was also Head of Coaching for the U-17's & 23's and an asst. Academy Mgr. Four years there had him involved in a big way with the day-to-day workings, not limited to training programs, loan decisions, schedule management & coaching staff mentoring. Now as he joins NYCFC, he will be close to Sporting Dir. Claudio Reyna & Academy Directory Sam Pugsley to keep the playing system and thinking throughout the system equal to that of the Club's soccer culture. Pugsley added " We are very excited to have Liam join us as the Club's Director of Coaching. He is an experienced coach with a track record of success in the English leagues and brings with him a proven style and methodology. Liam will focus on the Academy's coaching progams, both team and individual as well as technical and tactical." Liam started his coaching in 2006 with Ipswich Town as his 8.5 years saw him climb the ladder from Head Coach of the U-13's to Lead Youth Development Coach. As he was preparing players to go to the first team out of their youth ranks. Liam had a hand in the coaching development of past England National Team member, Paul Konchsky, now with the West Ham Academy as well as Anthony Limbrick, the asst. coach at English Side Two's Grimsby Town FC. He is looking to join NYCFC as the PL 2 season ends with the U-23's of West Ham, April 29.
