NYCFC to Take Part in the Florida Cup

By Sean McCaffery, November 20, 2019

Pre season kicks off Jan. 11 and the team will find itself doing their thing to get ready for the Concacaf Champions League to face Corinthians on Jan. 11at 6 p.m. then Palmeiras on the 18th at 2 p.m. These games will take place where the USMNT just played V Canada, Exploria Stadium Orlando. Corinthians have taken the Brazilian championship 7 times over and thrice the Brazilian Cup, this side based in Sao Paulo had a banner year in 2012 as they took the Copa Libertadores, South America's highest level tourney, they would then go on to beat Chelsea FC in the Club World Cup.  Also from Sao Paulo, Palmerias, I passed their training grounds in leaving the local airport, right up against the major highway there. Palmerias has the Brazil league title 10 times over, the most successful team in national history, that is along with 3 Brazilian Cups, and the 1999 Copa Liberatdores tourney, they took their last league title in 2018 and are now in the second position.

Heber a native of Brazil exclaimed "Corinthians and Palmerias are two of the biggest clubs in all of Brazil. This will help us prepare, not only for the MLS season, but also for the Concacaf Champions League."

This Cup is a big deal in international soccer circles, with Ajax, Eintracht, River Plate, etc and a host of top Brazilian teams. A Brazilian restaurant nearby has its whole entry way set up with artifacts from this event, as most teams go there for meals.
