NYCFC Drops 2:0 Decision To Philly Over The Weekend

New York City FC (NYCFC) dropped a 2:0 league encounter to hosts Philadelphia Union, before a crowd of 17,594, at Talen Energy Stadium in Chester, Pa. on Saturday evening.

After a scoreless first half, the Union got on the board in the 57th minute with a tally from Jamaican international forward Cory Burke off an assist from Czech Republic international midfielder Borek Dockal.

Brazilian international midfielder Ilsinho, who came in as a substitute in the 68th minute, scored eight minutes later to make in 2:0 in favor of Philadelphia.

NYCFC concluded the match with 10 players after Costa Rican international forward Ronald Matarrita, was sent off by referee Fotis Bazakos four minutes into stoppage time, for hard tackle on Union’s Ilsinho.

The loss gives NYCFC a 14-6-5 league record, while the Union improve to 10-11-3.

NYCFC returns to action on Wednesday evening when it hosts another New York Derby against NY Red Bulls at Yankee Stadium.
