Back to the future for NY? A league with one of it's executives straight 'outta NASL has accepted the team into their league today. You will not find it on the League site, nor on that of the team other than in the margin as a tweet from NISA. That they were accepted into the league yet need USSF approval should not be a major obstacle as it would then give the team more ammunition on the Federation if denied. I had received assurances that they would be in over the weekend, and rested assured that it would be put out in a more reasonable fashion, thinking only the President puts out his news on Twitter. Once again welcome to lower level USĀ soccer, the more things change the more they stay the same. That they had to get to a first year league that was delayed, coupled with the loss of its leadership at that time is cause for concern to play, a shame for the best known most historic of teams from the states. The state of soccer in this nation is a bit poor. That a league with over 100 teams, NPSL did not seek to put out a pro division where I feel they would have succeeded strikes me as odd. Once NISA balked on their inital opening date that should have left a nice size window open for NPSL to jump at this opportunity. As USL is adding teams, levels and now talk of a women's league, it may be imperative on the NPSL to establish a broader reach in the various levels of play in the nation. I am of course very happy that they will play, I never doubted the desire or ability of Rocco to make this happen. As an aside, Michael Collins of HIcksville the NY Arrows, NY Express and other local semi pro teams and a 15? year career as a pro player here and his father was the top man in LIJSL for decades is the head of the West Coast champs, California United Strikers FC. The East was won by Miami FC who just appointed a new coach as Danglsih the previous coach was moved up as GM, this new coach was his assistant assuring an easy transition for the club. Many from their front office have left of late as they seek to defend their East Coast title.
