AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB NEW YORK CLINCHES PLAYOFF SPOT WITH A 3-1 WIN OVER OSNER’S FC
Junior Rosero’s hat trick sends the Fighting Tomcats to the postseason for the first time in franchise history
(Flushing, New York July 1st, 2026) – American Soccer Club New York defeated Osner’s FC 3-1 on Wednesday night at Queens College and with the win they have secured a berth in the National Premier Soccer League playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
Junior Rosero netted a hat trick scoring all three Fighting Tomcats goals as American Soccer Club NY concludes their regular season with a record of 4-2-4.
“Making the postseason was a priority for us and the team is happy to deliver on that,” said Fighting Tomcats Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “Last year, we missed out by a point and this year’s conference is a higher level and more competitive. Wednesday night’s performance was not our sharpest, but the grit and determination by the boys was on display. Now, our full focus on is on our next match.”
The Fighting Tomcats and will meet the New York Shockers in the North Atlantic Conference Semifinal on Wednesday July 8th in Albany, New York. The winner of that match will visit New Haven United in the North Atlantic Conference championship match on Saturday July 11th.
Rosero opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a goal off of a direct free kick. Osner’s FC tied the game in the 43rd minute and the game was level at 1-1 going into the halftime break.
In the second half, Rosero took a feed from Bradyn Brown and scored his second goal of the match in the 61st minute to give the Fighting Tomcats a 2-1 lead. Rosero then completed the scoring in the 71st minute when took a pass from Leo Pinto and tallied his third goal of the match.
“We came into tonight’s game knowing our playoff chances were in our hands,” said Rosero. “We were able to get on the board early and then stepped off the gas for a while until the second half when we figured it out more. I’m excited for these playoffs and I’m confident in the team and what we are capable of in this league. I was brought in to help with the playoff push. We can check that off and now we take it one game at a time.”
