AMERICAN SOCCER CLUB NEW YORK RALLIES FOR A 4-4 DRAW WITH SANTA CRUZ FC

The Fighting Tomcats erase a 4-1 second half deficit to inch closer to a playoff spot

(Lowell, Massachusetts June 27th, 2026) – American Soccer Club New York rallied from a 4-1 second half deficit to earn a 4-4 tie with San Cruz FC at Babson-College MacDowell Field on Saturday night. With the draw, the Fighting Tomcats improved to 3-2-4 on the season while also extending their unbeaten streak to five matches.

With the point, American Soccer Club NY draws closer to clinching a National Premier Soccer League playoff spot.

“Another terrific effort tonight by our boys,” said Fighting Tomcats Head Coach John Fitzgerald. “Down 3-1 at the half, many teams would have turned in. Then, down 4-1 until the 64th minute, the team still refused to quit. We don’t specifically control results, but we certainly control the effort and attitude that’s put in, and the boys were exemplary in both categories. They displayed grit, managed each setback, and supported each other until the final whistle. The coaches and I are very proud of the boys.”

In the first half, Chris Morandi scored off a feed from Aidan Kolbe to tie the game at 1-1 in the 43rd minute. The Fighting Tomcats trailed 3-1 at halftime and then were down 4-1 in the second half before mounting an incredible comeback.

Bradyn Brown set up Duvan Sanchez for a goal in the 64th minute to get American Soccer Club NY to within 4-2. In the 72nd minute, Lucas Nicolaou drew a penalty and Sanchez scored on the penalty kick to make it a 4-3 match. Leo Pinto completed the comeback with a goal off of a direct free kick in the 83rd minute.

This Wednesday, the Fighting Tomcats will close the regular season on the road at Osner’s FC in a match that begins at 730pm. With a win, American Soccer Club NY would clinch a playoff spot. A draw could punch a playoff ticket for the Fighting Tomcats but, in that scenario, that would need help in other matches.
