Mastroeni Masterclass Powering Red-Hot RSL
With head coaching changes an early theme in 2026, Real Salt Lake do not appear to have any issues there as Pablo Mastroeni might be doing his best work in year six with the Claret and Cobalt.
Mastroeni is the third-longest tenured head coach in the league and this season illustrates why. Despite multiple injuries to start the year, Salt Lake is flying and currently on pace for its best season in almost every major category. Mastroeni’s tactical flexibility, combined with his knack for developing players, makes Real Salt Lake a serious contender in the Western Conference.
When looking at the roster, Mastroeni’s coaching is all over it – the growth of young Homegrown stars, elevating his key Designated Players, and putting SuperDraft picks in positions to succeed. It might be early, but Mastroeni might is undoubtedly a contender in the Sigi Schmid MLS Coach of the Year race.
This week will be a litmus test for Salt Lake as they host Inter Miami CF on Wednesday night (9:30 p.m. ET) before facing the LA Galaxy on Sunday Night Soccer presented by Continental Tire (7 p.m. ET).
