- Red Bull New York (3-2-1, 10 pts.) defeated FC Cincinnati (2-4-0, 6 pts.) 4-2 on Saturday night at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
- New York opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Defender Jahkeele Marshall-Rutty placed a through ball down the right wing to winger Cade Cowell who took a touch passed a defender and crossed a ball into the six-yard box to forward Julian Hall who placed a shot into the back of net.
- Cincinnati equalized in the 17th minute. Forward Kévin Denkey played a ball across the top of the box to midfielder Pavel Bucha who laced a shot into the bottom left corner of the net.
- The Red Bulls regained the lead in the 48th minute. Captain Emil Forsberg struck a right footed free kick into the top left corner of the net.
- New York extended their lead in the 66th minute. Cowell crossed the ball far post to Hall that was deflected into the back of the net by Cincinnati defender Kyle Smith for an own goal.
- The visitors got a goal back in the 73rd minute. Cincinnati midfielder Evander played a corner kick into the box that was deflected by a Red Bulls defender and fell to Smith who placed a shot into the back of the net.
- New York sealed the deal in the third minute of stoppage time. Defender Robert Voloder played a ball to midfielder Ronald Donkor who played a ball through to Mohammed Sofo. Sofo did a step over to beat his defender and laced a shot into the top left corner of the net.
- Hall scored his fifth goal of the season and is tied for the most goals in the Eastern Conference and second-most goals in MLS this season.
- Hall is the youngest player in MLS history to score five or more goals in their first six appearances of an MLS season, doing so at 18 years and 11 days old.
- Forsberg scored his first goal of the season and the 21st of his career.
- The midfielder’s 21 career MLS goals is tied with Lloyd Sam for the third-most goal by a midfielder in club history.
- Sofo scored his first goal of the season and the sixth goal of his MLS career.
- Donkor earned his first assist of the season and fifth of his MLS career.
- Volodor recorded his first assist with New York and second of his career in MLS.
