  • Red Bull New York (2-2-1, 7 pts.) fall 6-1 to Charlotte FC (2-1-2, 8 pts.) on Saturday night at Bank of America Stadium.
  • Charlotte opened the scoring in the 14th minute when the home side was awarded a free kick on the right side of the box. Midfielder Pep Biel crossed a ball far post to forward Idan Toklomati who headed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
  • Charlotte doubled their lead in the 46th minute, when forward Kerwin Vargas hopped on a deflected ball in the box, took a touch inside and placed his attempt into the bottom left corner.
  • The home side scored a third goal in the 54th minute. Biel struck a free kick from the top of the box into the bottom left corner.
  • Charlotte found a fourth goal in the 68th minute. Defender Harry Toffolo played a ball to the top of the box to Winger Wilfred Zaha who took a touch inside and laced a right footed shot into the back of the net.
  • Charlotte scored a fifth goal in the 77th minute. Defender David Schnegg crossed the ball into the box that was headed into the middle right zone of the net by forward Archie Goodwin.
  • New York found the back of the net in the 81st minute. Forward Julian Hall pounced on rebound in the box and placed a shot into the back of the net.
  • The home side scored a sixth in the third minute of stoppage time. Winger Liel Abada played a ball across the six-yard box to Goodwin who placed his attempt into the top left corner of the net.
  • Hall scored his fourth goal of the season and is tied for third-most goals scored in MLS and second-most goals scored in the Eastern Conference this season.
  • Midfielder Gustav Berggren made his first MLS start of the season.
  • Following Saturday’s match, the FIFA International break will run from March 23 to March 31, and then the Red Bulls will be back in action on Saturday, April 4, when they host FC Cincinnati at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
