Burnley head South to take on the Cherries

The Clarets hit the road for the final time of 2025 this weekend, as Scott Parker's men take on AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League.

Burnley head into Saturday's trip to the South coast with the Cherries aiming to end a losing run of seven games, before back-to-back Turf Moor games over the festive period.

Prior to facing Bournemouth, the Clarets sit 19th in the league table and victory this weekend could see the gap to climbing out of the bottom three to just three points.

Saturday's hosts come into the game after a thrilling 4-4 draw at Old Trafford on Monday night, with Andoni Iraola's men currently 13th in the table.

The opposition

After a promising and impressive start to the 2025/26 campaign, which saw Bournemouth pick up four wins from their opening seven fixtures, the Cherries’ form has since become more uneven, leaving them hovering in mid-table as the season approaches the midway mark.

Andoni Iraola’s side began the league season with a difficult trip to Liverpool, where the Reds came out on top in a six-goal thriller, before sparking an unbeaten league run of eight games, with wins over Wolves, Tottenham, Brighton, Fulham and Nottingham Forest and draws with Newcastle United, Leeds United and Crystal Palace.

However, that impressive run of form came to an end in November, as the Cherries suffered just their second defeat of the campaign to Manchester City, before a heavy 4-0 defeat at Villa Park followed.

A vital point was picked up following the November international break at home to West Ham, after being 2-0 down, before back-to-back defeats to Sunderland and Everton.

The Cherries responded to those losses with a draw at home to Chelsea, before a thrilling 4-4 draw at Old Trafford saw Bournemouth return from Old Trafford with a point, but remain winless in their previous seven outings.

What Scott Parker said

“We’re ok this weekend. A lot of players come back. We’ve had a little bit of illness in and around this week, but injury wise we’re where we are really. We’re in good shape.

“Without giving anything away here, we’ll see what the weekend brings us and bringing out the team that I feel will give us a fight and a spirit because that’s what we’re going to need at this present moment in time in terms of the run that we’re in.

“I sound like a broken record I understand that. At times we’ve just fallen a little bit short. I don’t want that to become such a big issue to this young squad because there’s a lot of positives. We need to fix up on certain things, and we have to get out of this run that we’re currently in. There’re certain elements that we need to address."
