HARRISON, N.J. (August 2, 2025) – The New York Red Bulls battle C.F. Monterrey in their second match of Phase One of the 2025 Leagues Cup at TQL Stadium on Sunday, August 3. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English and Spanish, and New York Red Bulls Radio presented by Sports Illustrated in English via the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.

Neil Sika will have primary play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Lloyd Sam on the English side, while Sammy Sadovnik will have the play-by-play responsibilities and will be alongside Daniel Brailovsky on the Spanish side. This will be the first ever meeting between the Red Bulls and C.F. Monterrey. New York have posted a 6-3-2 mark against Liga MX teams in franchise history, including coming off a 1-0 victory over Chivas Guadalajara on July 31 in their first match of the 2025 Leagues Cup. The Red Bulls have posted a 3-0-4 mark in Leagues Cup play in franchise history. C.F. Monterrey are coming off a 3-2 loss against F.C. Cincinnati on July 31. Under Head Coach Sandro Schwarz, the Red Bulls have posted a 5-1-4 mark in matches excluding the MLS regular season.
Captain Emil Forsberg scored the game-winning goal in New York’s 1-0 win over Chivas Guadalajara, which marked his first career Leagues Cup goal. In three matches outside of MLS regular season this year, Forsberg has scored two goals. He has recorded seven goal contributions in his last seven appearances across all competitions. The Swedish international is one goal away from tying Sacha Kljestan for most goals scored by a midfielder across all competitions with 22.
Following Sunday’s match, New York will return home to Sports Illustrated Stadium to face FC Juarez in their final Phase One match of the 2025 Leagues Cup on Thursday, August 7.
