- New York Red Bulls tied C.F. Monterrey, 1-1, and then lost the penalty kick shootout, 5-3, on Sunday night at TQL Stadium.
- The Red Bulls opened up the scoring in the 19th minute, when defender Alexander Hack on a quick restart found the feet of midfielder Daniel Edelman, who slipped a through ball to forward Julian Hall, who placed the ball to the near post with his left foot and scored.
- C.F. Monterrey equalized the match in the 38th minute, when a cross delivered into the box found the head of a Monterrey player and fell to Sergio Canales, who volleyed it in the back of the net with his left foot.
- Hall scored his first goal of the season and his third of his career across all competitions. This was his first career Leagues Cup goal.
- The Manhattan, N.Y. native became the sixth homegrown in Red Bulls history to score a goal in an international competition.
- Hall became the youngest goal scorer for New York in an international competition at 17 years, 132 days old.
- Edelman tallied his second assist of the season across all competitions and the sixth of his career.
- The Warren, N.J. native became the fourth homegrown in franchise history to tally an assist in an international competition.
- Defender Noah Eile eclipsed 5,000 minutes played for the club across all competitions in tonight’s match.
- Defenders Alexander Hack and Omar Valencia made their first career Leagues Cup appearances in tonight’s match.
- Midfielder Nehuen Benedetti made his Leagues Cup debut and also his first appearance for the first team.
