NEW YORK CITY FC HEAD COACH PASCAL JANSEN
On the approach of the final 10 matches of the season... “The approach is not different [on going into the first 10 games of a season to the final 10], but [the context is different, where now] you're in the final stage of the season. As you probably know as well as I do, the first part of the season is about making sure that you're still in the game and don't give it away, [and making sure that you are not putting yourself in a position where you are] ending up chasing the league because you didn't start well. The mid part of the season is about creating stability and making sure that you are ready to go into this final phase. The final phase is all about making sure that you get to the point where you need to be in order to get ready for the playoffs and be in them. This is the phase where that will be determined. So, for us, it was very important to be part of this ranking going forward into the playoffs and to have a chance to get in—then make sure that you treat it the best you can to get into the best possible shape to compete.”
On what the key battles will be against D.C. United... “The two previous results are positive from D.C. [United's] perspective. If you get a draw against one of the strongest teams in the league, [against Inter] Miami [CF], that's huge considering where D.C. is at the moment and what's happened at the Club. They will [try to build and] use these positive moments going forward, trying to end the season as strong as they can. At the moment, they're not in a good position because they're not able to get into the playoffs anymore, but [they'll want to] look ahead and make sure that they have a competitive side going into the final stages of the League's [Regular] Season. For us, it's very important that we are aware of this and [that we] focus on our own targets. Our main goal is to get ourselves into the playoffs in the best possible shape.”
NEW YORK CITY FC MIDFIELDER AIDEN O'NEILL
On his performance the last two matches... “I think I've just hit my stride here in terms of understanding my role, other people's roles, the movement from other players in the team and where I fit in [that movement]. In the last two games, like you said, [we have faced Hany Mukhtar and Evander and] they were quality players. My role during those games was to try shutting those guys down, [limit their chances], and make sure they don't have the opportunities they're sometimes given, because they're quality players and they can punish you. [Overall], I felt like I competed with them, and I enjoyed that [challenge], to be honest.”
On what has changed for the team to be on this five-match unbeaten run... “We've had a bit of stability in terms of our starting eleven not changing too much, which is obviously down to good performances and good results. Something's just really switched in us in terms of what all our roles are in the team, how to score goals and not concede too many. [Also,] our understanding of each other and where we are on the pitch is just getting better every week, and I think that's made us go on a good run of fixtures.”

This occurred when New York City beat the New York Red Bulls 5-1 on September 28, 2025, FC Cincinnati 3-2 on October 2, 2024, and Nashville SC 3-1 on October 6, 2024. All three matches took place at Sports Illustrated Stadium.
New York City is also currently on a three game-winning streak in home matches, scoring nine goals and conceding only two (one of them being an own goal from Goalkeeper Tomás Romero). All three matches took place at Yankee Stadium.
The streak includes a 4-0 clean sheet victory against Atlanta United on June 12, 2025, a 3-1 win against Toronto FC on July 3, 2025, and their most recent home match resulting in a 2-1 comeback victory against Nashville SC.

A CLEAN SWEEP With the 1-0 win over FC Cincinnati on Matchday 30, New York City FC completed their third sweep of a fellow Major League Soccer team of the season by winning both games against them this year.
New York City has also swept Toronto FC and Orlando City SC this season.
Against Toronto, their first win was a 1-0 clean sheet victory at BMO Field on April 26, 2025, and the second was a 3-1 victory at Yankee Stadium on July 3, 2025.
Against Orlando, both of their wins were 2-1 victories at Yankee Stadium on March 8, 2025, and at Inter&Co Stadium on July 16, 2025.
The 2020, 2024, and 2025 MLS Regular Seasons are tied for having the most sweeps by New York City, as the Club accomplished this feat three times in each season.
In 2020, the Club won twice against Chicago Fire FC, FC Cincinnati and Inter Miami CF.
In 2024, the Club won twice against the New England Revolution, the New York Red Bulls and Toronto FC.

Achieving one more sweep against one of these teams would put New York City at four sweeps this season, which would be a new Club record.
Achieving another clean sheet win against the Union or the Red Bulls this season would mark New York City’s second sweep this season in which both matches were clean sheet victories.
With consecutive sweeps, it has been achieved by the Club three times.
First was against FC Cincinnati, as New York City won six consecutive regular season matches in 2019, 2020 and 2021.
