  • New York Red Bulls tied FC Juarez, 1-1, in regulation and then won the penalty kick shootout, 5-3, at Sports Illustrated Stadium on Thursday night.
  • The Red Bulls opened up the scoring in the 47th minute, when defender Marcelo Morales played a cross into the box and found the head of Dylan Nealis, who placed it in the bottom right corner of the net.
  • FC Juarez equalized the match in the 87th minute, when Ian Torres curled a cross into New York’s eighteen-yard box and found the head of Oscar Estupinan, who headed his attempt past A.J. Marcucci.
  • Nealis scored his first goal of the season and the second of his Red Bulls career. His first came in the Round of 16 of the 2022 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup against Charlotte FC.
  • Defender Marcelo Morales and midfielder Andy Rojas both made their first career appearance and start for the Red Bulls in tonight’s match.
  • Morales tallied his first career assist for New York.
  • Midfielder Daniel Edelman made his 100th career start across all competitions for New York.
  • Midfielder Adri Mehmeti made his first career appearance for the Red Bulls and became the second youngest player in franchise history to play in a match at 16 years, 123 days old.
  • Mehmeti also becomes the youngest player to appear in a Leagues Cup match for New York passing Julian Hall.
  • The Red Bulls moved their Leagues Cup mark to 3-0-6 in franchise history with a 3-0-4 mark at home.
