MATCH PREVIEW: New York Red Bulls II Travel to Historic Crew Stadium to Face Columbus Crew on July 31

New York are tied with Philadelphia for top of the Eastern Conference table. They’re coming off a 9-2 loss against Chicago at SeatGeek Stadium on July 27. Forward Roald Mitchell made his first start of the season and scored a brace to tally his third career multigoal match.
Columbus sits in 15th in the Eastern Conference. Crew 2 are coming off a home matchup against Toronto FC II on July 27. Columbus opened the scoring in the 59th minute but gave up two goals in the 64th and 68th minutes to fall 2-1.
Through six all-time MLS NEXT Pro matchups against Columbus Crew 2, New York are 3-2-1 and have gone undefeated on the road at Columbus going 3-0 and have given up zero goals while scoring eight. Red Bulls II also have earned a result in seven of their ten road matches this season, winning five matches and drawing three.
The two sides last faced each other on May 25 at Historic Crew Stadium. The match was level until the 89th minute when defender Matthew Dos Santos stepped up and curled a free kick into the top right corner to secure a 1-0 win.
