Orlando v RBNY

Their 2nd meet of the year and they are in balmy FL, not frigid NY to play.

Just 17 seconds in and Long Islander Tim Parked is down, up fast. First shot by ORL at 2’ and Carlos comes up big, now out of the area to send one back upfield. Dummy by Forsberg, not read by Moting. Now an offside Moting tucks one home and is offside. Like the broadcaster, no idea why Emil did not fire off a shot. To the endline go ORL into the 6, headed out. The 3 back system is not going so well here as many balls are getting to the endline for ORL. A deep throw for the home team and again a ball outside but less than 18 yards out and a great look for ORL from just beyond the area hits the end of the side netting. Over the top by ORL but offside. Nealis sends one out from the endline for a deep throw. ORL goes with it into their backfield, now being pressed they go toward the top of the area, then a foolish foul by NY as Valencia trips the player from behind. Get it forward do not foul and lose the ball. Valencia defends a ball in, gives up a corner. They go long and way beyond the arc back to the taker then put inside and wide. Carballo lets one go from even beyond the arc and it is not wide by much, keep up these long range shots, they will change the game. Pasalic sends Valencia down with a hard shove, Parker a few inches and many pounds bigger goes to him and he tried to move Parker? Muriel and Pasalic link up, the last pass too far and Coronel takes it. Nealis cannot reel in the pass from Coronel and a deep throw below the 18, winds up in their defensive half. Comes back Anguelo with a shot is wide, they are trying to pick the corners, no surprise, but low, have they seen something lacking on the ground for Carlos? Elie does his job in turning back the attacker with help. Freeman fouls and draws the ire of the crowd to the ref. Stroud called for a foul that takes out him, a teammate and an opponent. Over the top and the endline for a NY goal kick. A few nice first time passes leads to the midfield now forward again and out of touch by ORL as NY holds the ball, Valencia into the middle of the field not a red top nearby, taken by a purple one. Coronel well out of the 18, almost loses his footing, a lofted shot over the top follows but was off after the GK hit it away. Emil leaves it, the teammate has it and a caution issued for the foul, seems the number of them on Schlegel, the crowd and his captain are not pleased the boo birds are out in force. Ojeda gets around Parker but bodied away by Parker.  Stroud to the ground and a deep throw for the home team.  They again go deep now to the GK who is well up the field. Freeman and Pasalic combine Muriel for Ojeda, Carlos with the side. Again the defense leaving players open, back to a back 4 maybe? At 34’ the hosts have 3 corners. That Muriel has many times over the touches of Moting is no surprise as we watch the run of the game, deeper possession and more looks on goal. Stroud fouled in the circle the restart too long and to the GK of ORL. Pasalic open, does get a shot off but low to no chance on that. But he should be far more pressured on the ball. Sandro is very animated on the touchline. Nealis that was not a foul as he was taken off is feet and the ball. Pasalic for Freeman in the area now again to their defensive end and out again. Pasalic shows some skill, gets to Muriel, Coronel with an impressive save of a leg whip then a Muriel foul in the area gets it out of danger. On a 2 v 5 how does ORL complete a pass deep in the defensive third of NY? Ojeda beats a pair wants a foul, nope. Donkor with a pass well beyond his player and Orlando on it again. Ojeda give and go with Anguelo and Carlos saves the day again. More players in the area yet NY cannot stop these passes, not a god thing. Corner at 43’ for ORL to Muriel his go on goal is blocked out and taken by ORL, Johnson with a header right at Coronel, he makes the save and then goes back down and he hears if from the crowd, holding his right hip. AJ is now up. Carlos did land on that hip after the save, hoping he remains for the half and gets treatment to remain in. NY does sub Carmona for Donkor, that last slow pass may have sealed his fate. There will be a trio of added minutes to this first half of action. Carballo with a foul a bit far out but to the center of the field. The line set at the 18 the kick from 30+ yards. Ojeda plays it in headed out but not fully, Ojeda again goes down no call. Seems to be communication issues on the back line as Ojeda wide open gets one and loses it. Carmona whistled for a foul. Freeman shielding the ball is moved off it, no call Ngoma to the ground on the other end, again no call. Forsberg goes to the ref.

RBNY with a pair of fouls to start the half and a card given at 47’ to Serge, he did step right onto the top of the foot of the player. That does hurt but most times not a real injury. Studs up is a red, but they were down not out though did create the foul, a caution is fine here. Into the area for Ojeda, Parker nods it up and out, then kicked out further, now a NY throw. Caballo for Forsberg then lost, ORL to the area and back out to the circle now back field. Foolish foul by NY, Carmona far from goal, but the restart will surely go into the area. Muriel over the ball into the area low headed out before entering the area. Muriel out of the area on the side now Pasalic gets it again and lets one go from beyond the area, blocked out into the defensive half of ORL. Ojeda into the area turned away and Angulo gets to it into the 16 Pasalic lets a shot sail off a lunging stop by Parker, described as an error by the talking heads, he was at full extension, and did alter the direction of the ball, error, great effort. Pasalic denied by Valencia as he goes to ground and those two have words again. Valencia in the face of a person who sent him down with no effort earlier, not the best of ideas. The ball in is headed up and away by ORL. Schlegel sends Moting down and he remains there for a bit, a high kick and a yellow issued goes to red as it is his 2nd caution, Moting still holding his head though on his feet now. He is holding his face above his right eye. If he was hit in the face, it is a red, to call it a soft yellow is a joke by the talking heads. Bring the first caution into question. Ok, this hardly. Now RBNY get their first good look on goal and their first corner, bear in mind the other look was offside. They commentators now state that as they are a man up the wing backs may get up more, no, they are getting beaten all game. Now Ojeda to Angulo who is just wide as it is directed out by Carballo. The corner goes toward the penalty mark, sent away by Nealis. Angulo seeks out Muriel with a through ball, Coronel all over it. With still over half an hour of being a man up. Let’s see if NY cannot get a few goals here. Parker from well beyond the area and it goes awry. Santos in for Pasalic, this shows me ORL is playing for the tie, not the win. Hall is in for Ngoma. The pace with one off for ORL has slowed, NY needs to amp it up to wear players out and press to get numbers forward. Parker to the feet of Angulo who then is taken out by Stroud and a caution, he was looking to feed a cutting player. Muriel for Ojeda at the top of the area, sent out recovered by ORL 2x, Freeman gets off a good pass top the 6 and wins a corner. Ojeda has it go to him, looks far post it goes out. NY with a number of balls just below the circle doing nothing with it. Outside then in and lost by Moting. McGuire for Muriel at 68’. Carmona has his shot redirected out for a corner inside the arc, shoots across his body. The corner, goes far post and the leaping player for the visitors does not get to it, NY holds and NY has it all the way around the field, no rush getting forward. Carmona seeks an attacker but no good, NY recovers. Carmona gets to Forsberg, he is stricken down, forward to Freeman and Elie plays it out of touch inside the 18. Angulo trying to take Nealis on the flank, near the endline still able to flick it across. Parker rides McGuire off the ball in the area. The Peruvian in goal for ORL stops Carmona following some great deep ball movement and now Gallese is holding his back. Stroud gives way to Harper, Sandro wants the win, with about 15’ to go is it too late? the GK is up. Enrique, Smith & Atuesta for ORL, all at 80”. Harper draws a foul by Atuesta just beyond the area, is the DFK to be on goal of into the area and the mess of bodies there, I say go on goal, a GK with a bad back has not seen much action, Carballo the target man heads it well wide. Hall is out. Harper tries to send one far post and it goes well far of the post. Harper looking to the 6 for the near post, grabbed up by the GK. McGuire on a break, Parker lays it back to the GK, no issues. Moting too many touches and passes it into the foot of a defender with an open man on his left. Harper on the ball a lot this time goes forward and it is lost, then fouls Santos deep in his offensive end, seems they got tangled, a bit further on the field than the area. Another deep foul by the visitors. With 5’ of regular time left, NY has to get forward, 3 points on the road would be huge, though they have had the better of the play since, nothing to show for it and ORL has still been getting forward, they have gotten all of 1 shot on goal in nearly half an hour of a man advantage. Nealis well above the goal from distance, Gallese does seem to be in some discomfort at least. Harper from Nealis into the 6 and again a ball behind the attacker, Boting. Harper has made quite the impact. Harper with a shot, still in the area Valencia cautioned for simulation to draw a penalty. A young voice announces the caution very funny over the PA for the stadium, in a teasing sing song voice. An additional 7’ of soccer to come. Bogacz gets some screen time since coming in for Hall

NY recovers in their offensive third, lost and to McGuire he is stuffed twice over, then it gets to the GK. Nealis for Forsberg in the area for a volley not quite right.

In most cases, you are happy to get a point on the road, but not in this instance. NY withstood thanks to Coronel, the offensive efforts of ORL, went a player up for over a half an hour and did not break through. The failure to get in on goal much with the advantage I see as a major negative here.
