  • The New York Red Bulls defeated the San Jose Earthquakes, 1-0, in their first match of the 2025 Coachella Valley Invitational.
  • Forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had the first chance for the Red Bulls, when he struck the post in the 10th minute after a through ball from forward Julian Hall.
  • New York scored their lone goal of the match near the end of the first half after Panamanian defender Omar Valencia whipped in a corner and found the head of newly acquired German defender Alexander Hack. Valencia tallied his first assist for the first team, while Hack scored his first goal in the preseason.
  • Red Bulls Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel recorded five saves in the match to earn the clean sheet and has recorded four clean sheets in last five matches played.
  • Defenders Tim Parker and Raheem Edwards subbed in during the second half to make their first preseason action for the Red Bulls in 2025.
  • In the 88th minute, New York almost found a second goal after Aiden Jarvis slotted a ball past the San Jose defense into the path of midfielder Mohammed Sofo, who’s shot attempt hit the crossbar.
  • Following today’s match, New York will face off against Real Salt Lake in their second match of the 2025 Coachella Valley Invitational on Wednesday, February 12 with kickoff set for 3:30 p.m. ET.
