- New York Red Bulls II dropped a 5-1 contest to Philadelphia Union II on Sunday afternoon at MSU Soccer Park.
- Philadelphia Union 2 opened the scoring in the 10th minute, when defender Francis Westfield played a cross through to Edward Davis.
- Philadelphia would double their lead in the 45’ +6’ minute when Kyle Tucker played a quick free kick to David Vasquez who smashed it top left corner.
- New York got one back in the 68th minute after Frank Ssebufu dished an assist to Mohammed Sofo, who placed it bottom left corner.
- Philadelphia added a third as Christopher Olnev Jr whipped in a cross to Markus Anderson who headed the ball into the back of the net in the 77th minute.
- Just 6 minutes later in the 83rd minute Philadelphia forward David Vazquez earned a brace placing a line drive free kick into the bottom left corner.
- Philadelphia scored their fifth and final goal as Sanders Ngabo played a ball through to Markus Anderson who beat his defender and placed a shot into the bottom right corner to secure his brace for the match.
- It was a game of firsts for New York as 19-year-old forward Mohammed Sofo bagged his first goal of the season, and 22 year old forward Frank Ssebufu earned his first assist of the year.
- New York will travel to New York City FC II on Saturday, June 1st at Belson Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET with coverage on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
