Comfortable win for Marseille |
|
Marseille came from behind to win 4-2 against Saint-Étienne at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
Denis Bouanga put Sainté ahead following a howler from Marseille's keeper Pau Lopez (9) but Jorge Sampaoli's side hit back in style through Dimitri Payet (45'), a Timothée Kolodziejczak own-goal (60'), Bamba Dieng (68') and Amine Harit (73'), to cement their place in second on the table. Lucas Gourna-Douath added a late consolation for Les Verts (86').
"I am very happy with the performance of my players," said Marseille coach Sampaoli who must now prepare his side for Thursday's Europa Conference League clash with Greek outfit PAOK. "In the first half, Saint-Etienne had only one shot on goal. My team was totally dominant."

Rennes snatch point at Nice
Martin Terrier's header 12 minutes from time earned Rennes a 1-1 draw at Nice.
Andy Delort headed Nice in front (67') before the in-form Terrier levelled up for the visitors. Nice slipped to fifth whilst Rennes occupy the third position.
"The first half was very tactical and there was little between the teams," said Rennes coach Bruno Génésio." It is important to stay on the podium and stay close to Marseille, Nice and the other teams that are very close behind. The end of the season is exciting, it will be important for us to manage our emotions well."

Julien Stéphan's Strasbourg continued their fairytale season as they edged out Lens 1-0 at the Stade de la Meinau.
Ludovic Ajorque's 67th-minute penalty was enough to secure maximum points as Strasbourg leapfrogged Nice into fourth place to stay in contention for Champions League qualification.

"I'm happy for the victory," said PSG's two-goal hero Neymar. "We know that this championship is difficult but we must continue to win and show that we want to win this tenth title. Losing against Real Madrid was very difficult for us but we must continue to move forward. It hurt us a lot to lose the way we did."
