Bulls Overtake Quakes 3-1 in Season Opener
Many new pieces on the visiting NY side as they looked to get a good jump on the new season. They hardly had the better of the ball, conceding possession in a big way but winning in a big way by a pair, I will take that every week. It was no doubt a total team win, the one mamor flaw and it will be addressed often here would be their finish and choice of shots, more so not shooting.
At the opening Ebobisse had an early ball for a shot off his first touch, he did however take another touch, this allowed the defender to get into a better position to shut him down. Dylan Nealis showed some early speed as he ran down a ball. The ‘Quakes held possession again and again, in stringing together 10 or more pass on occasion, but not doing much with that much time on the ball. Kilmala was high on a shot with no follow through as he leaned back from a feed by Casseras at the edge of the 6 yard box. RBNY in a pair of consecutive possessions had too many and poor passes in their defensive third lead to turnovers. Sean Nealis took a good first time shot, but it was straight at the GK. Beason came on for an injured Nathan, down over the far touchline for some time. Casseras gives to Fernandes, again poor form with no follow through and the shot turns into a not. Coronel comes off his line well to clear a through ball destined for Cowell. Ebobisse beats Dylan curls I into the 6, Coronel, again up to the task. Tolkin in on goal, holds to long to either dish to Kilmala or shoot himself. Dylan and GK miscommunicate if at all as he shielded the ball from a distance from goal, Coronel does not come for it, attacker gets a touch in around the defender. Martin plays in to Ebobisse but it is a bit long for him to get to. Ebobisse again on goal but his shot is not taken first time and wide as he drifts away from the goal. A DFK is taken on goal, a bullet, Chofis gets a touch on it and it beats Coronel. Kilmala to Cark, but too many cut backs gets him dispossessed of the ball.
Kimala after a few off target shots was able to get a goal in the extra time of the first half, he would be dangerous today, putting one high but on frame only to be tipped over the bar for a corner, but a great adjustment.
Fernandes at it with a hard, low shot, benefited from the poor form of the GK, he pushed the ball down, rather than scooping it up, it went to the ground, under and behind him on its way to the back of the net. Omir had a very good game, many great passes that his targets for the most part did nothing with. Barlow, held the ball as had many before him, he did put it past he GK, also in extra time, his in the 2nd half.
There were a good many things done by NY that should resolve. Taking first time shots make one far more dangerous, they showed a few times that the extra touch will have you not score, so why not try a few first timers. Kilmala, going on goal kept the ball on his foot closes the defender, a simple slide tackle and gone, why there I have no idea, keep your body between opponent and the ball.
