Covid has yet again reared it's ugly head. This virus which has fouled things up for the better part of the year has once again impacted soccer in the USA, NYCFC has had 3 players test as having the virus, causing them to travel on game day, not yesterday as expected. They need a big win facing Tigres to stay in the games kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET on FS2 & TUDN. After one positive test, all players and staff then took the RPOC testing yielding another pair of positives, NYCFC & Concacaf came to the agreement to travel game day. The most recent positive test was Friday, since all others are coming back negative. A player considered a close contact makes a total of 4 who will be out as he will not make the flight. More tests will be conducted today to help finalize those who will roster for this big game. Should the play beyond this game, the team is to remain in Orlando where the balance of the games are to be played, under isolation and more tests. Orlando GK is on loan for the balance of these games as well, Mason Stajduhar will be on the game's roster.
NYCFC Sporting Director David Lee informed "202o had brought forth a tremendous number of challenges, and every team across the league has need to adapt. Our goalkeeper pool has been greatly affected. I'd like to thank both Mason & Orlando City EVP of Soccer Operations, Luiz Muzzi for being extremely accommodating to our need and helping us navigate this unprecedented scenario."
To continue, NYCFC must win by 2.
