NYCFC Goes in for 100,000 Meals

By Sean McCaffery, April 8, 2020

This is from an email by Brad Sims. He wishes all well during this most difficult of times from all at NYCFC. They are aware a number of their family, fans, etc. have been directly effected by the virus, they hope all will know they are there, determined to do what they can for all during this most difficult time. So different of a world it is since their last game, their people, as most New Yorkers are sheltering in place, social distancing all the while adhereing to the numerous great groups striving to keep us all well.

NYCFC thanks everyone for staying home, however there are a great number of people who make up the frontlines, the team as a whole gives thanks to all such healthcare workers and first responders. They are due a huge amount of gratitude for their lifesaving efforts - they are humbled by the tireless efforts being put foth by them. They also thank their amazing partners at NewYork-Presbyterian, as they have been invaluable while the team works their way through this time, difficult for all. Another round of thanks goes out to those providing essential services, law enforcement, fire prevention, grocery, construction and more. Each evening at 7 p.m. NYCFC joins in with all others in applauding their brave deeds.

As they often state, they are more than a team, part of a viibrant community, one of the many that comprise NYC and make it the passionate and diverse place they proudly call home.

Sports are at times trivial, but particularly at times like this, sports teach lessons that help, teamwork, bouncing back from adversity and never giving in.

Over this hard time, the team is seeking out ways to best help their local community. We already brought to you details on the fund they & the Yankess established for COVID-19 relief, $1.4million for gameday staff. Now they add to that with 100,000 meals, donated straight to the South Bronx community. This will add to the great work of NY Common Pantry and their work.

As a great many of us are now home, it is key to stay connected. Being home does not eliminate getting together and supportiing others. The team has their hub-Stay Healthy. Stay Home. it gathers together players, staff and fans. It does of course include NY Common Pantry, learning resouces for families, player workouts and oh so much more.

NYCFC is fully aware that the next 2 weeks are to be key and hard for all. This will, sadly hit all in unheard of ways since your last time together, pushing for the team. "Please stay safe, and again, I want to send well wishes to all of you in our NYCFC family."
