ESPN Picks up NWSL for 16 Games

All the hand wringing may now come to a stop. The NWSL is back on TV in a deal that will be more valuable should the USWNT take the World Cup yet again on Sunday. From 14 regular season games, a pair of semis, and the final, it begins just after the World Cup ends, Sunday at 3. Beyond any doubt, this is the top league in the world for women's soccer, in no small part to the USWNT, all of their players partake in the league, in large part due to staying local for the coaching staff and camps, and oh yes the US, Mexican & Canadian federations cover the 6 figure salaries for their players in a league that pays 1/5 of that. Two times as many as play for the USWNT, 55 in total were in the World Cup also call the NWSL home, from Sam Kerr, Christine Sinclair, Marta and beyond. Amanda Duffy informed, "NWSL is a global leader in women's professional soccer with collectively the most talented players in the world." The NWSL Pres. would continue "even in the year leading up to the Women's World Cup, we have continuted to experience tremendous growth." 2018 saw them with 650,000 in attendance and a new record as the final brought in a record crowd of 21,1444.. Burke Magnus, EXEC. VP, Programming and Scheduling contributed, "We are pleased to once again televise the National Women's Soccer League."
