Montenegro forward Bledi Bardic scored twice to lead New York Cosmos to a 5:0 win over visiting Greater Lowell Rough Diamonds in the NPSL’s (National Premier Soccer League) encounter at Uniondale’s Mitchel Athletic Complex on Sunday evening.  The victory gives 1st place Cosmos a 12-0-0 record in the NPSL’s North Atlantic Conference and have secured a berth into the 2019 postseason.

The Cosmos opened the scoring in the fourth minutes against Rough Diamonds (2-7-2 record) with a tally from Mexican midfielder Ricardo Bocanegra.

Bardic notched back-to-back tallies within 20 minutes (15th, 35th) to increase the hosts advantage to 3:0 going into the intermission.

In second half, midfielder Sal Barone made it 4:0 with a goal in the 57th minute-mark.  Then, recently signed Mexican forward Isaac Acuña made his debut with Cosmos coming in as a second-half substitute and scored the club’s fifth tally in the 61st minute.

The Cosmos will look to extend their NPSL regular season winning streak to 22 games, dating back to 2018, when they welcome Rhode Island Reds at Mitchel Athletic Complex on June 30th at 5 pm.
