The NY Cosmos bounced back in sparkling fashion, spanking the opposition 7-1. Though out of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup they are quite in the thick of things in the NPSL. Their 7 c' or rather g's finshed the Rough Diamonds in no time. The opening half closed with NY up 3-0, with a pair of goals from Charlie Ledula and a pk conversion by Junior Burgos. 4 more would be mined off the Diamonds in the second stanza, by Salvator Barone, Bledi Bardic and a brace(let) against the Diamonds by Aly Hassan. This was the highest goal tally of the season but just equal to what Giorgio Chinaglia had done twice over for the team. Junior opened the party as he conveted the pk with Pedro Galvao being taken down in the area. The 2nd generation pro and international player for El Salvador put it home into the side netting and past Jack Rivers. At 30' Ledula, with his first of the night tucked away a pass from 2nd time Cosmo and academy product, David Diosa. Charlie made it a trio for the team at 40' from a shot at short distance. After a string of 325 league minutes of not relenting a goal, Great Lowell got one, Luke Neves put away the pk at 55' following the foul, past Jesse Corke who came in as a second half sub for Kevin Tenjo, still over 4 games not a ball has beaten the NY 'keeper corps in the run of play. Barone reclaimed the 3 goal lead in the 62' when his 35 yard direct kick from the right deflected from the hands of Rivers, into the net. Hassan came in handy with his 2 at 70' & 76'. Rivers was unable to keep a grip on a crossing ball, leaving Hassan to drive it home from his position, right in front of the netminder. His next had him finish with a ball also crossed in, from the left side opening up the score to 6-1. Bardic who had the # ESPN #2 play of the day for his long distance blast facing Hartford that was shot from Milford maybe? got his first goal in league play, in tight in the 88' to closeout the scoring.
