Due to an incident late in the Sporting KC game extra time, where he kicked a ball that went into the crowd injuring a man, Kaku is out for 3. The act, violent conduct and the red card carries an automatic one game suspension as does any red card, being sent off from the game. This created a bit of a skirmish on the field as the home players came to the defense of their supporter, when leaving the field, Kaku did touch his left chest (heart) making a sign of praying for forgivness (hands together). Following the game many of his teammates went over to check on the well being of the fan and were well received. He has been chastised very strongly in both the press and social media for his action. He did not play in the game with New England and will miss the first visit as an MLS team by FC Cincinatti, a home game for Autisim Awareness, I hope he will be all over that as it is a great thing to do and also make amends. They May 4 game will also see him off the pitch facing the LA Galaxy.
For his part, Kaku stated "I apologize for my actions and accept this suspension from MLS. I will do my best to learn from this and become a better person and player. For now, I will continue to work hard in training and do what I can to make sure my teammates are prepared for these matches."
There has been much noise on his displeasure of late. We know nothing of that, what little interactions we have had with Kaku have been very pleasant. He tends to play wiith a smile on his face and seems to be very cheerful and happy, especially with the fans. We as I am sure all are hoping this was an abberition to never occur again. This was not a ball played over the line, even driven out of play by a defender as that ball tends to be lofted, not struck as hard and is anticipated. I am glad he and the team put up no objections to the further suspension with hopes both are able to put this behind them. He and others must realize doing this is a very dangerous thing, though certain he meant to hit the sign board, he missed it, the ball will travel over the speed limit off the foot of a high level player such as Kaku and is very dangerous. I have blocked shots off my thighs, leaving the pattern of the ball panel, brand name etc. on my leg. What such a projectile would to to ones face or a child makes me shudder.
