Not much of a surprise in either selection with Bastian Schweinsteiger taking the MVP but his Defensive Player of the year was not a given by any means. The Golden Boot of course is for most goals so that was a given with Nemanja Nikolic getting it for 2 years running and now is one of just 4 players in club history with more than a single season with goals totalling double digits.
MVP: His 2nd year in the Windy City yielded great results as he had 6 assists, and topped the team in creating chances with 43, leading them in touches, totalling 2,494, duels won 195 as well as tackles with 47. In starting 30 of his 31 games, Bastian was tops in minutes played with a total of 2,726 hitting the back of the net 4x with one from far out facing RSL Aug. 4, selected as Fire Goal of the Year.
Golden Boot: The 15 goals and 2 assists Nikolic contributed were a testement to his being dangerous at all times, and his .65 goals per 90 minutes is tops in Fire lore. In the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup he was also the team leader with 4 goals.
