2018 Soccer Young Players & with a Disabiilty Award Nominees Released

The voting for this ends Dec. 6 @11:59 p.m. Here are the hopefuls:

Young Male Player of the year:

Alex Mendez,  the Golden Boot winner  for the Concacaf U-20's is already his and at only 18 he helped the to their 2nd title.

Ulysses Liamez had 7 goals in the U-20's.

Mark McKenzie led team in minutes during the U-20's tourney and a great year with the Union in MLS.

Giovanni Reyna a top player with the U-17's now in Florida and with NYCFC U18/19 as he lead them to the title in their first year.

Tyler Freeman with the U-16's helped them to their wins at the  Torneo delle Nazioni in Italy and inked a homegrown deal with SKC as one of the youngest ever homegrowns.

Young Female Player of the Year:

Tierna Davidson went from the U-20's then got a full dozen caps.

Sunshine Fontes made the new goals scoring mark for the U-17's.

Maya Doms had the GWG in the title game of the U-17's in Concacaf.

Sophia Jones of the U-17's the mifield leader.

Allyson Sentnor eligible for the U-14's and also the U-15's, 16's & 17'.

Player of the Year with a disability:

Branden Andersen of the Deaf Men's National Team

Nico Calabria with the Amputee National Team

Gracie Fitzgerald from the  Deaf Women's National Team

Nick Mayhugh Para 7-a-side National team.

Votes are taken from respective National Team coaches, National Team players who earned a cap in 2018, members of the USSF Board of Directors, US Soccer Athletes Council, select media members (not me) and administrators. The award may only be won once per player.
