The neew coaching lineup is in place and not a day or 2 too soon for the derby. HC Domenec Torrent now has his Assts. in Albert Puig and Jord Gris with Ismael Caenforte as Head of Performace and Francesc Cos as DIrector of Performance. They join previously installed Asst. Javier Perez and KG Coach Rob Vartughian.
Albert Puig leaves the west coast as he steps away fromthe De Anza Force Soccer Club's Technical Director position following serving in the same capacity for FC Barcelona Youth where he was the Academy DIrector from 2010-2014. Puig explained, "I feel like it will be a terrific experience with Domenec. He is a terrific coach, and we have shared many experiences throughout our time at Barcelona."
Jordi Gris makes a longer pilgrimage to the Bronx in leaving Chennai City FC in India, where he was the Asst. Coach and Director of Youth Football. He had been a scout with Barca for the U-12 through U-23 teams, then a valued evaluator for Pep Guadiola there and at Man. CIty. Gris stated, " I'm very excitied to come to New York CIty FC and to work with Domenec."
Fransec Dos also has ties to Barca as he was the top man at their strength and conditioning section from 2004-2016. Possessing a PHD, a Degree in Physical Activity and Sports Science to go along with a Masters in High Sport Performance from the Univ. of Barcelona where he had been a profesor since 1993. On the HC of NYCFC he told, "Domenec is a very talented coach, one of those people born with a special gift to understand soccer."
Lastly, Ismael Camenforte is here now after Barcelona B, having been their head trainer for 6 years and worked with Domenec and all others while there. Camenforte informed, " I hope to bring my knowledge of the Barcelona methodology in which I worked with Dome, and I also hope to bring my knowledge of control and analysis where I feel I'm an expert."
