After much thought and consideration, the Open Cup Committee has come to this hard fought decision to not hold the competition this spring. Tey put the blame on the logistical & monetary concerns related to the Corona virus crisis. They have not ruled out conducting this event in the fall.
Open Cup Commish, Paul Marstaller told "The logistical and financial burdens to have the tournament take place this spring in the current environment are substantial., We will look further into the future to see what possibilities might exist for 2021. After that a full-scale 2022 Open Cup is less than a year away."
March saw them come up with a 16 team system in 4 divisions with 4 levels of soccer represented.
This Cup is unique in that a local home town team may very well end up taking on an MLS side, then onto international competition. It is a shame it will not come off this year but not a surprise given he current state of affairs, safety first and foremost.
