NISA Suspends Sembroni for rest of Year, Now an Ex-Cosmos Player

By Sean McCaffery, August 24, 2020

This is really the least that should be done by the league, the team's statement "While Emmanuele has played his last game for the Cosmos." For me he was done once his foot came down, as a former ref, you do not get to walk around the field, hang at the bench while your victim is treated, out of the field area ASAP, gone.

I know Emmanuele nowhere near as well as many other players, but it was as best I know, well out of character. Not in games or training did I ever see such a response from him, all his messages on social media are positive, self help type. He has been a long term pro, well over a decade, this is not his reputation whatsoever. The fact remains, he did this, I have 3 biases here, as a ref, a Cosmos fan and a cop, this was a felony, make no mistake about it, Assault in the 2nd degree, a minimum of 1 year in jail should he be prosecuted and convicted, problably will not be any of the above. The irony is Hudson Sports Complex is on a former jail. This in no way matched the tenor of the game and has no place in it. There was a chance, slim as it was, that he would have been banned for life.

I have already communicated my support for Danny Vincente directly to ownership of New Amsterdam and do wish him a full and rapid recovery.

Have anything to say on this, let's discuss on the Facebook of Soccer Long Island Magazine.
