It is a revolution in the world of football, which attempts to make teleportation real.  initiated by Orange at Marseille’s Orange Vélodrome, the unprecedented set-up aims to encourage interactions between players and guests. Two full-sized, high-tech Vitres allow supporters to interact spontaneously with footballers and to have their reactions to the match on the spot. The inauguration, which took place on March 6 during the match between Olympique de Marseille and AS Monaco, was hugely successful thanks to the high quality, ‘face-to-face’ and real-time interactions via these full-sized screens.

A first in the world of sport

For the match on March 6, 2022, Orange introduced technology from the French startup la Vitre with the installation of two Vitres at the Orange Vélodrome in Marseille: one installed in the players’ tunnel and the other in the Terrasse Orange. Such an interaction between guests and players has been made possible thanks to this new technology of instant meetings developed by la Vitre, and to the high-quality connection deployed by Orange. For the first time ever, players can interact naturally with guests in the Terrasse Orange before and after a match, and even sign autographs directly on the Vitre. Furthermore, language is no longer a barrier, they can interact in real-time thanks to the instantaneous translation and transcription.

Founded in 2019, the startup offers a new way to communicate digitally, simple and immersive thanks to high-quality video and sound, full-sized interaction, elimination of external noise and instant translation in more than 60 languages.

This device is unprecedented the world of sport, and is the first of its kind worldwide! We are proud to have installed this for Orange at the Orange Vélodrome and hope that this format reaches all stadiums to strengthen the link between players and fans. Everything is taken into consideration to provide a smooth and passionate post-match discussion and the high-quality connectivity provided by Orange guarantees the success of this tool, so the sensation of presence is exciting!” declared Anthony Vannier, la Vitre’s co-founder.

How does it work?

To speak with a colleague, the user simply taps on the touchscreen as if they were knocking on the door of the neighboring office. The colleague can hear the knock and must simply move closer to la Vitre to open the discussion. la Vitre is permanently opened to another space but can be blurred for privacy reasons.

All-in-one tool to install in less than 1 hour

Just as simple to install as it is to use, la Vitre’s set up takes less than one hour on a dedicated tailormade frame that reduces its weight by half. The result? A sleek, discreet window to any distant time or place, in any language.

About la Vitre

The concept was initially developed by UCAYA, a digital agency whose clients include Canal+, FranceTV, and Microsoft. UCAYA was looking for a way to streamline communication between theirs teams its various sites. Given the success, Romuald Boulanger, Anthony Vannier and Thierry Bouquain, the co-founders, decided to launch la Vitre in February 2019.

The start-up has fully developed the solution, which includes the software, the selection of compatible touch screens, speaker, microphone and camera for their performance and works with SIDEV for distribution.
