New York Red Bulls renew Royer

Daniel Royer who this year has picked up where he left off last year, the only difference being many of his shots, though well taken have been blocked, saved, hit the woodwork etc.. He was rewarded by his team with a multi year deal announced today, this follows his coming out party, the 2017 season. Sporting Director Dennis Hamlett had this to say, "Danny both fits our style of play and club culture and we look foward to him contributing to our continued success." The 27 year old Austrian had a tremdous 2017, over just 26 games he hit for 12 goals and 3 assists well over a point a game. As hot as July was he was hotter with 6 goals over 4 MLS games, netting him the MLS Player of the Week and Month honors. In half his games, he earned at minimum a point per game and followed suit in the 3 playoff matches. Head Coach Jesse Marsch stated " Danny is an intergral part of our team. He is gifted around the goal." The competition has made no never mind as he has produced over 50 games in the NYRB kit, with 17 goals , 13 in MLS play, 2 MLS playoff goals with a goal each in U.S. Open Cup and the CCL. These include 4 game winners, one v NYCFC in Open Cup play and the go-ahead tally @ Olimpia for the tie in the sweet 16 of the CCL. For his part Royer contributed, "It's a great feeling. It's a great club. I like the pholosophy, I like the team, I like the staff. I like everything here.
