By Sean McCaffery, February 22, 2019

The champs are not satisfied with the status quo and have brought in another netminder in Stephanie Labbe, terms as ever were not released by the team. This well established goalie brings her wealth of experience to the fore for the Courage. "Losing Sabs, was never going to be easy, but gaining Steph is massive for the club." Stated HC and Long Island Legend Paul Riley. Her past in both the NWSL and International play will serve her and the team well while as coach described "Her training habits are exemplary and I'm sure Kate & Steph will push each other every day." She like Shannon Horgan who did a number of clinics here on LI played in Sweden, for Linkopimgs as she joined them in July of 2018, earlier last year she had been with  the Calgary Foothills WFC of the UWS. 2016 & 2017 saw her with the Washington Spirit as she had 17 games in '17 with 1530 minutes played, good for 65 saves, a season high 8 in a 1-0 loss to this same Courage team in the season opener. 2016 not quite half the games with 8  and 22 saves. Sweden was her pro home for 2012-'14 with KIF Orebroo, she had 62 games where she was a teammate to newly signed Courage player, Julia Spetsmark in '14. She graduated from UCONN in 2009 and was off to Pitea IF and 37 games while there. A top backstop in Canada for some time now, her first cap was in 2009, 2016 had her as the starter in the Rio Olympics, as she guided them to a Bronze. With 56 games, 49 starts with Canada nearly half of her starts are shutouts with 24.
