NEW YORK (Monday, August 25, 2025) – Seattle Sounders FC forward Danny Musovski was voted the Major League Soccer Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob Ultra for Matchday 30 of the 2025 MLS season.
Musovski scored three goals in the Sounders’ 5-2 victory over Sporting Kansas City at Lumen Field on Sunday evening. The hat trick was Musovski’s first in his 128-game regular season MLS career and he became the eighth player in Seattle history to produce one. 2025 has been a record year for the 29-year-old forward who has produced career highs in goals (13), goal contributions (15), game-winning goals (three), and multi-goal games (three). Of Musovski’s 30 career regular-season goals, 43.3% of those were scored in 2025 and he currently ranks fourth in MLS this season at 0.88 goals per 90 minutes.
With the match tied 1-1 in first-half stoppage time, Musovski latched on to a Reed Baker-Whiting cross and flicked his header past the Kansas City goalkeeper (Watch Here). Just five minutes after halftime, Musovski scored his second goal from a header, this time off a corner kick from Danny Leyva (Watch Here ). The Sounders and Kansas City exchanged goals before Musovski finished off his hat trick in the 75th minute from the penalty spot, as he snuck a low shot into the bottom corner to complete the 5-2 win (Watch Here)
This is the second time Musovski has been named MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob Ultra after previously earning the honor on Matchday 17 of 2020 when he scored two goals and added an assist for LAFC. Musovski is the first Seattle player to win the award since Albert Rusnák did so on Matchday 31 last season.
Seattle next travels to face the LA Galaxy in the Leagues Cup Semifinals on Wednesday, August 27 (10:45 p.m. ET, MLS Season Pass on Apple TV / Apple TV+ / Univision) as the Sounders have an opportunity to book a spot in Sunday’s final.
The MLS Player of the Matchday presented by Michelob Ultra is selected each matchday of the regular season through both media and fan voting in a process conducted by MLS Communications. A panel of journalists from the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) comprises 75 percent of the vote, while an Instagram fan vote represents the remaining 25 percent of voting. NASR consists of members of print, television, radio, and online media.
