Crawley Town FC Leadership: WAGMI United Takeover is Good for Club and Community

First Team Manager John Yems and General Manager Tom Allman shared their excitement for the club's new era
CRAWLEY, WEST SUSSEX (April 8, 2022) — Crawley Town Football Club General Manager Tom Allman and First Team Manger John Yems met with the press on Friday to share their thoughts on the club's future following WAGMI United's successful takeover. Both leaders expressed optimism and excitement for Crawley Town's new era under WAGMI United's ownership, viewing the takeover as a positive for both the club and the local community.GENERAL MANGER TOM ALLMAN: “We’ve long said that Crawley Town have had to do things differently than other clubs in the past to get where we’re at. A move like this can not only be good for the club but the community. If we can be trailblazers and maybe buck the trend then I’m all for that." "I’m keen to say, while there is a new way of thinking coming, we’re not going to be moving away from the fact that football is for the fans. Whether that be locally, internationally, wherever. John [Yems, Crawley Town manager] has been around West Sussex football longer than I’ve been alive. I’ve been at the club for the last five, six years or so. Everyone knows what this club means to everyone. If we can make this club that everyone loves and knows that little bit better, while also enticing a new audience, then I can only see that as a good thing.”FIRST TEAM MANAGER JOHN YEMS: "These seem very good people and they want to be successful and we all want to be. We’ve changed it round here over the last couple years so who’s to say where we can go? Let’s hope they can meet my ambition.""I think we will be pulling each other’s reins in a little bit, but I know if we do it correctly, don’t be frightened of it. Having spent a lot of time in the States I know how a lot of things work in America. When you talk about crypto, I thought it was the kind of thing that kills Superman to be honest with you! How many people in football know where their owners get their money from? You just judge good people by good people.”ALLMAN: “They’re looking to get stuck in right away. We’ve had conversations, on and off the field, about plans. Now that the deal is done we’ll be able to crack on with those plans. They’ll be over towards the end of the month, so that will allow for more meetings with the relevant stakeholders, both internally and externally.""Myself and John are in almost constant dialogue with them. They’re really keen to get over to us as soon as they can, it’s just still a bit difficult travel-wise at the moment. They’re really hands on, really passionate about being here, and can’t wait to get going. These ambitions that we’ve got, as the ownership group are keen to say, will be starting from now.”
