Max Arfsten vs. Miguel Almirón, a Potential World Cup Preview
The last time Max Arfsten and Miguel Almirón met on a field saw Arfsten put together a man of the match performance in the U.S. 2-1 win over Paraguay on Nov. 15, 2025. A Walmart Saturday Showdown matchup between Atlanta United and the Columbus Crew (7:30 p.m. ET, MLS on Apple TV) marks a potential World Cup preview between the two stars.
Last season’s matches between the Crew and Atlanta were certainly exciting as both games had 13 total goals scored. The Sept. 13 match featured a near-impossible comeback – Columbus led 5-0 at halftime before Atlanta stormed back, ultimately falling 5-4. Arfsten recorded an assist, while Almirón added a goal and an assist.
The two could meet in the opening match of Group D on June 12, making this weekend’s clash their first matchup of 2026 on the wing.
