MLS Joins Lamar Hunt US Open Cup

It’s not a party until everyone shows up – and with the 16 participants from Major League Soccer joining the U.S. Open Cup fray the next two nights against lower division sides, this is when the real fun begins.

Tonight’s 2008 Final rematch between Charleston Battery and three-time champs D.C. United in our nation’s capital provides a captivating start to the round. This evening’s five-game slate ends with a juicy “modified Cascadia Cup” clash between Portland Timbers of MLS and Tacoma Defiance, the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of archrival Seattle Sounders FC.

Wednesday’s docket is heavy on the drama – and the early kickoffs, with eight games kicking between 7-8 pm ET.  Regional rows of note include Rhode Island FC vs. New England Revolution, Tampa Bay Rowdies vs. Orlando City SC, St. Louis CITY SC vs. Union Omaha, and San Jose Earthquakes vs. Sacramento Republic FC – just to name a few!
