Miami 3-1 SKC in Concacaf Champions Cup
First round, 2nd leg, last time out, these two in terrible cold where Miami was able to get a win and Messi a yellow post game. The picture here is horrible, the team was shown with names, it was illegible, now the game is on and it looks as if it is on an old time set of Rabbit Ears. It may be the raised camera as they went to one on the field level and faces were crystal clear.
KC with a run and they run out of field goal kick. Pressure by KC has them recover the ball in their defensive third, they then win a throw deep. They had it knocked away, another throw, back out to the center circle. Now their defensive half, and again. Looking long, they get their man into the area and Miami has the throw in their defensive end. KC steals it, they get in the area, the pass knocked away then sent far and high for a KC throw near the half mark. Back to the KC defensive third, Messi to Suarez back to Leo and taken in the area. KC cannot get out of their half. Miami a bit forward to Alba and he goes back, now in the Miami half. Long ball below the area and tackled away as a first touch was a bit much, corner by Messi. He sends it to the far post and out of play. SKC seeks some breathing room, going long to the touchline and their player plays it out. Won by KC near the center circle, now back into their defensive third some pressure, now more and they hold into the half and a long ball in, too long. KC pressing Miami they are dealing with it well enough and get near the corner and then back a good 20 yards, Messi looks in but too weak, he recovers in the area and it is lost. Too much for KC in their defensive third, these sort of mistakes may prove costly. From the end line in and KC gives up another corner. Short then back now for Messi from Alba on the end line but he cannot catch up to it. KC in to the defensive third of Miami then they pull it back to the center circle twice, into the area and laid off to KC, defended out for a corner. KC goes to the top of the 6, Alba fouled, Miami into the area and they lose it with too many touches. KC beyond the half then back into their’s, lose it as they get forward. No pressure now from KC in their offensive half, Miami back into their half. Now they press as KC is forced back to goal, Melia of LI is no longer with KC. Many passes needed to get forward, but with Alba and Messi combining Messi finds his player on the end line, but just beyond it. Busquets with a foul, clearly trips up the player but argues the call, DFK from Garcia from 40 yards, the line set at the top of the 18, he plays it right over the end line, many wasted free kicks in the early goings here at 18’. Messi with a long ball to Suarez, he gets it back, off his chest then volleyed home, he was rather open, cannot do that. Between players, with neither covering him, a big smile and point at the camera for Messi. KC must press now for the rest of the game they are not just chasing this game but their time in the Cup, needing a pair. A number of hard fouls, it is still early could get ugly fast here. Busquets Alba with a nutmeg it bounce around a bit and Miami whistled for a foul. Miami presses and wins it in their offensive third fast near the area then out Alba hold Busquets takes a boot as he helps keep the ball, Miami into their own half and now the GK. Miami pressing and KC has a player down, trainer called in. SKC get forward off the restart but back to their half in again and lost. Alba goes long far too long for Suarez who may have been off. Strong pass to the KC ‘keeper into the Miami half and to a pink shirt. To the Miami GK pressed and barely gets it off. From the end line in, headed back, on goal blocked out for a corner, a goal saving effort by Falcon. KC with Garcia over the ball, near post and out again, a far back post try and corner. Boxed out KC holds and he got another shot in the middle of the area blocked, Garcia also blocked not on the wing Miami recover, they withstood a good half dozen looks. KC again, into the area the ball passes through and a bit out now to the other wing Davis looks in had it blocked and KC again recovers. On the wing again then back a bit the return pass is off Alba, another corner for KC. They go top of the 6, it goes to the touchline and KC has the throw, Busqutes partially clears it a first time shot is at the GK. A great shot by Davis, it did move but was easily handled by the GK. Miami moving it well under some pressure in their third, a pass inside post and shot from beyond the arc and a corner as it is deflected out. Top of the 6, headed out by Miami and the KC backstop well out of his area to beat the attacking Miami player. Miami holds in their half. Long ball from the GK gets to the KC counterpart, foul Miami. Frey fouled. Long ball gets to the GK of KC again. Garcia and another both on the ball in the Miami area, no shot a long shot just beyond the area by KC bounces just before the GK but he has it. The KC GK with a moment went to receive the ball and it squirted away as the Miami forwards were pressing his defenders. Miami with a run, an errant pass off the end line ends that and KC are going, they score but offside called, our angle shows he was off a bit. Miami GK shaken up a bit on the play is up, his left side by the area was run into. Alba intercepted by Davis, Miami gets it then loses it and out for Miami to get a throw near half field. They go to the GK and back again, some pressure but no tracking on Busquets so he gets a ‘meg then fouled. Missed connection by midfield of Miami and KC holds below the area laid back inside then he tried to go a bit fancy and Frey is down a bad foul as it was near the area and losing the ball deep is never a good thing. Miami wants a foul, but their player ran into the other, 4’ extra time to come. Messi to Segovia and then Alba, Leo again to Alba in the area into the 6 for Allende. Basic ball into the 6, KC must do better, they are really up against it, giving a goal up a minute into extra time, bad, bad, bad. Just stated by the announcer of Allende, nobody marking him. Oh to be on the fly on the wall of the KC locker room in a few minutes. Suarez bullies one through at 2:45 of extra time. A lost ball into their half, a miss by the defender, Suarez, shields it and goal. KC cannot get it out of their half before the halftime whistle.

It was just stated that Miami has scored on all 3 of their shots. At 15 seconds Miami straight to the area and Segovia is just wide. KC pressure does not allow the ball out of their defensive third and despite a few losses of the ball still have it but not enough movement until now as Davis gets wide and goes in bounding around KC recovers, wins a throw. KC with a 2nd throw deep in their offensive third is stolen Miami hold through their defense and they get pressured and it’s sent into the defensive third of KC twice. Holding well are KC but keep giving up what little space they win. Poor pass yet KC still hold a half chance gearing up no issue from just beyond the right corner of the area. Busquets another ‘meg, another foul on him. Bartlett recovers and back to the KC half. Miami beats the press Alba to Messi, threads the needle for Segovia back to Leo and it’s off the GK’s leg. Short corner finds Alba, he goes over the top KC has it, Alba sends it back. Miami now just passing around. Long ball from Busquets now Segovia wins a corner. Messi pulls away for Alba and a center ball cannot be hit by his onrushing teammate. Great movement off the ball makes it so easy for Miami to find the open man. KC on the left Thommy on Frey with a shot, deflected high and the GK has it. Alba passed into Davis but gets it back. Suarez too much goes to the GK and out. Allen in for Aviles at 57’ for Miami. Over the top for Miami Messi with a steal he is toppled and loses the ball, KC still just beyond the area and a whistle for offside. KC subs Rodrigues in Salloi out Garcia and others. Suarez offside but kicks it way anyway not carded, he is not happy he was off no doubt. KC no pressure as the ball is at the feet of the GK? Thommy beats a pair and Falcone tackles it away for a corner. Rodriguez sends it back post and out, again wasted chances. Not all on KC are pressing making others work too much and leaving players open. KC get a throw at midfield, Bartlett steals about 25 yards out Rodriguez from long distance at 63’. Well beyond the area and it was deflected off Falcone, is there some life here yet? KC again holding into the area and lost they foul at the top of the area, keep the ball in this end anything may happen. Busquets over the ball, goes short gets it back goes wide it’s lost and Gray with a foul. Allen plays it into the feet of Salloi. Salloi draws a foul, commentator mentions maybe a card, nope. DFK Rodriguez from the far right of goal and it curves out the other side for a throw. Messi passes off the arm band to Allen as CremaschI is in. KC with some great ball movement get to the edge of the area and play it to a pink shirted player. Cremaschi for Segovia no call and KC get forward, the boo birds are at it from Chase. KC with no urgency, they foul deep in their offensive third again, Messi has left the bench. Allende takes a ball over the top but bodied off the ball in the area. Thommy with a poor shot that is easy to grab up. Davis shields a long ball out for a goal kick. KC with a guy on the wing forward put it a good 20 yards inside of him. Davis out for KC. Thommy still working, blocks a clearance out of touch. Miami has numbers, but it is cleared away. Suarez sought out by Cremaschi but defended away, now back to the Miama GK. Busquets tries to spring his man but KC puts a stop to that. Falcon out for Miami Suarez out for Miami, Taylor on for Busquets, Ruiz is on. Cremaschi with a run to Ruiz who can’t control it. Miami at 82’ up 4-1 aggregate are pressing. They get forward, a heel flick and then back from the corner KC steals. Of course Thommy, his pass trails Salloi. Allende tripped up by KC no card. KC sends in James, at just 16 for Rosero. DFK for KC about 40 yards out, Rodriguez to dispatch the ball, 2 players fall on Allen with the armband. Salloi in the area, beating a few but not his own player that he runs into. Taylor to Segovia, blocked over the end line, into the area and to the middle then a foul. Frey fouled at the corner flag. SKC with a late DFK from a distance, into the area but a whistle stops play in the last minute of regular time here. An extra 3’ coming. Rodriguez gets a shot in the area, blocked soon as shot. KC still not shooting a good 3 opportunities as it went through the area, they win a corner hitting the post with a diving header.
