"We Are Not Playing", the campaign set by Chi town Mayor Lori E. Lighfoot announced together with the pro sports teams of the Windy City to fight the Coronavirus. All of the pro teams out of this city, Da Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Fire, Red Stars, Cubbies, Sky & White Sox have liked up to push this. The pro teams afford a high visibility and level of influence as with their players, all ask for their fans to follow the IL wide Stay at Home order, requesting all residents to keep themselves and neighbors safe from the spread of this scourge.
Mayor Lightfoot stated "We all have a role to play in meeting the challenge of COVID-19. I am grateful to each of our hometown teams for stepping up and doing their part. They're not playing and neither are we."
This program is a push commencing with both digital and out of home billboards across the city, then going online and to social media. This is far reaching, touching many towns, made of numerous secondary pieces and growing from the new "Stay Home. Save Lives" program of the Mayor."
The city, long known as a great sports town is trying to leverage this and the unique position the team have in the locals hearts to get all to follow social distancing and self-isolation to flatten the cuve.
This program began on April 6, and the online aspect will feature local celebrity/all-star players. They hope to use all the well known athletes to add to the following of the Order. It was built from idea to actualiity by the award winning Foote Cone Belding Chicago agency. The commmon thread of all these differnet aspects, the idea of togetherness via the public means, the large influence of the sports teams and athletes impact. The firm did this all at no cost.
FCB Pres. Chicago Kelly GravesĀ added "There has never been a more important time to harness the power of creativity to help support our city and keep its residents safe and healthy."
Chicago Fire Owner Joe Mansueto informed "The Fire has an international roster and fan base-we have fans, players, coaches and families connected to his pandemic across the globe. On behalf or our entire Club, we would like to thank Mayor Lightfoot for her leadership during this time and we are in full support o the 'We Are Not Playing' campaign. There will be a time when games resume, but for now, we all need to stay at home to flatten the curve."
Red Stars Owner & CEO Arnim Whisler contributed "We love sports. In fact, it's usually all we think about. But for the foreseeable future, sports don't matter. The health of our citizens is paramount."
While Chicago keeps adjusting to the virus, it will seek out more ways as called for to flatten the curve. They ask all that are mandated to remain home and lack the ability to get food and other social services to call 311.
