Liverpool FC, Sporting CP Play To 2:2 Draw At Yankee Stadium

Liverpool FC, 2018-19 UEFA Champions League Winner, played to a 2:2 draw against Sporting CP of Portugal on Wednesday evening before crowd of 31,112 fans at Yankee Stadium in Bronx, N.Y.

It was the 18-time Portuguese champion that struck first in the match, that was for the Western Union Cup, as the country’s international midfielder Bruno Fernandes fired a 22 yarder that was misjudged by Belgium’s international goalkeeper Simon Mignolet of Liverpool for the 1:0 lead in fourth minute of play.

The 18-time English Premier League winners tied the encounter in 20th minute with a goal from Belgium international forward Divock Origi.

Just before halftime, Liverpool took the lead, 2:1, with a tally from Dutch international midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

In the second half, Brazilian midfielder Marcus Wendel tied the match for Sporting CP in the 53rd minute-mark.

Both sides cleared its benches to have all players see action however the encounter concluded 2:2 as the squads shared the Western Union Cup Trophy.
