NEW YORK AND MEXICO CITY (Wednesday, July 9, 2025) – LIGA MX today unveiled 28 of the 30 players who will participate as part of the 2025 LIGA MX All-Star Team. Led by iconic Spanish defender and 29-time champion Sergio Ramos, two-time UEFA Champions League winner James Rodriguez, and 2025 Gold Cup champion Alexis Vega, the LIGA MX All-Stars will face the best of Major League Soccer in the 2025 MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 23 at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. The highly anticipated match, which marks the first professional All-Star Game to be played in Austin, will be broadcast live on MLS Season Pass on Apple TV in English, Spanish, and French in more than 100 countries around the world.
The first 14 selections, previously announced on June 16, were nominees for the Mexican league’s Balón de Oro awards for the categories of Best Goalkeeper, Center Back, Full-Back, Defensive Midfielder, Attacking Midfielder, Forward, and Rookie. Balón de Oro is LIGA MX’s awards ceremony to honor the league’s best following the Apertura and Clausura seasons.
Club America head coach Andre Jardine, who earns his second consecutive All-Star coach selection after winning the 2025 LIGA MX Coach of the Year award, selected 14 additional players. The Brazilian manager led Las Aguilas to their third consecutive LIGA MX championship in the 2024 Apertura season and reached the 2025 Clausura championship final.
Mexican Football Federation Commissioner Mikel Arriola will be making his final two player selections in the coming days.

Highlights of the 28 LIGA MX All-Stars:
- Six LIGA MX players return to the MLS All-Star Game after playing in 2024: Roberto Alvarado, Juan Brunetta, Rodrigo Dourado, Luis Malagon, Kevin Mier, and Alexis Vega.
- Erik Lira’s and Alexis Vega’s All-Star selections will mark their third participation in the MLS All-Star Game. Lira played in the 2021 and 2022 matches, while Vega appeared in the 2021 and 2024 editions.
- Alejandro Zendejas and Brian Rodriguez carry an MLS background after having played for FC Dallas (2015-16) and LAFC (2019-22), respectively.
- Seven players will be joining the LIGA MX All-Stars after recently lifting the 2025 Gold Cup trophy in Mexico’s 2-1 victory over the United States this past Sunday in Houston.
- Tijuana’s sixteen-year-old Mexico standout Gilberto Mora will be the youngest player on LIGA MX’s roster, fresh off winning the 2025 Gold Cup. Mora’s debut will make him the youngest LIGA MX player to participate in an MLS All-Star Game.
- Three All-Stars are under the age of 20 years old: Gilberto Mora (16), Hugo Camberos (18), and Elias Montiel (19).
- Five Toluca players earn a selection after capturing the 2025 LIGA MX Clausura season.
- Five Cruz Azul players form part of the roster after winning the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup in May.
