The opening weekend saw Paris Saint-Germain and Monaco both register wins whilst Marseille thrashed Reims and Lorient won the first derby of the season. Check out the action from Round 1 of Ligue 1 Uber Eats here!

PSG cruise at Clermont
Paris Saint-Germain began their title defence with an emphatic 5-0 win at Clermont.
Neymar opened the scoring (9') before Achraf Hakimi (26') and Marquinhos added to the visitors' tally (36'). Lionel Messi netted PSG's fourth (80') but the Argentine left the best until last, with a sumptuous overhead kick (86') to seal three points.
"I'm very satisfied with the win," said Christophe Galtier after following up last weekend's Trophée des Champions victory with his first league win as PSG coach.

Diatta magic lifts Monaco

A superb volley from Krépin Diatta set Monaco on their way to a 2-1 win at Strasbourg.
The Senegalese winger fired home two minutes before the interval to put the visitors ahead. Sofiane Diop added a second for Les Monégasques (53') before Habib Diallo reduced the arrears for Strasbourg (65').
"My players were ready and we started preparing early to be ready," said Monaco coach who now turns his attention to the crunch Champions League qualification clash at PSV Eindhoven in midweek. "There are several players who have pleased me. This is very important for the following weeks and months.
"We have to utilise more than eleven or fourteen players. We must be in contention both in Europe and the league. We have to get the job done next week [against PSV]."

Marseille kick off Tudor era in style
Marseille gave new coach Igor Tudor a debut to remember as his side beat Reims 4-1 at the Orange Velodrome.
A Wout Faes own-goal (13') set OM on their way before loanee Nuno Tavares added another on the stroke of half time. Colombian striker Luis Suarez scored twice on his league debut (75' & 90') to finish off the visitors who pulled one back through Folarin Balogun (84').

Lyon edge past Ajaccio
Peter Bosz's Lyon kicked off the season with a 2-1 win over new-boys Ajaccio at the Groupama Stadium.
Tête (12') fired the hosts in front before returning hero Alexandre Lacazette added a second from the penalty spot ten minutes later. Debutant Thomas Mangani pulled one back for the Corsican's with a penalty of his own (31') in a game that saw both OL 'keeper Anthony Lopez and Ajaccio forward Romain Hamouma dismissed in the first half.

"Winning the game and scoring five goals is important, as is not conceding any chances and maintaining high levels throughout, even when the gaps were getting larger. I know that I have a very talented team but they need to play as a team, and that needs to happen over the entirety of a match, and then throughout the season.
