Back on Track

New York's recent stretch has been one to forget, with a U.S. Open Cup Semifinal exit coupled with a 5-4 loss at home to Colorado, but New York has a perfect opportunity of bounce back against their Atlantic Cup rival D.C. United.

The Red Bulls have dispatched them twice already so far this season by a combined score of 7-1. Despite having a new Head Coach in Wayne Rooney, a match against D.C. feels like a perfect opportunity to get back on track.

Stuck in Traffic

There has been one big positive for D.C. United this season, and his name is Taxi. In 15 appearances this season, Taxiarchis Fountas has tallied 11 goals and three assists.

For the Red Bulls to keep a clean sheet that has proven elusive over the past month, Taxi is the man that needs to be marked.

Rooney Returns

In five matches as a player against New York, Wayne Rooney never managed to beat the Red Bulls. Now, as the newly-appointed D.C. United Head Coach, he will try to achieve that in his first try.

A new manager could mean a motivational bump for D.C., who currently sit at the bottom of the MLS league table. Rooney won his first match in charge at home against Orlando City in dramatic fashion, but New York will try to bring the new boss in D.C. back down to earth.
